THE GMWC REJECTS THE MUSLIM BAN
America is a country founded on the principles of liberty and justice for all. While we may not have always lived up to our best ideals we have always strived to draw from the ideals of an immigrant nation welcoming all who wanted to breathe free from oppression and persecution.
Today’s Supreme Court Decision, Trump V. Hawaii, is despicable and undercuts our nation’s founding principles of justice, fairness, and basic human decency of tolerance.
We have a moral responsibility as a nation to stand up above xenophobia and baseless fear, to build a more tolerant and multicultural society and to stand in solidarity with our fellow Muslim countrymen, neighbors and friends to reject the Muslim Ban.
We must keep hope alive in tough moments like this; we need to organize and fight back. We are here to lead and we need all of us to reject the politics of division and fear. Muslims have been part of the fabric of our country and will continue to be. We must all stand tall and in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors today and far into the future.
