Standing Together in a Time of Need w/ FYJ & EADO

Supporting Immigrant Families Across Greater St. Cloud

Across Greater St. Cloud, many immigrant families are facing unprecedented fear and uncertainty due to increased immigration enforcement activity. Families who have long contributed to our communities through their work, leadership, and involvement are now making difficult decisions about their safety and well-being.

Many individuals are afraid to leave their homes to go to work, purchase groceries, pick up household necessities, attend appointments, or participate in everyday activities that most of us take for granted. As a result, some families are facing immediate challenges in accessing food, basic supplies, and essential resources.

In response, the Greater Minnesota Worker Center (GMWC) is working closely with our partners at Fe y Justicia and the East African Dream Organization to support community members during this difficult time.

Together, we are committed to ensuring that families can remain safe while continuing to access the resources they need to care for themselves and their loved ones.

Meeting Immediate Community Needs

Through our partnership, we are coordinating efforts to provide food access and essential household supplies to immigrant families throughout the Greater St. Cloud area.

These efforts include:

  • Supporting food access for families who are unable or afraid to travel to grocery stores.

  • Coordinating food delivery and resource distribution to community members in need.

  • Collecting and distributing essential household items and supplies.

  • Connecting families with trusted community organizations and support networks.

  • Providing culturally responsive support through organizations deeply rooted in the communities they serve.

Community donations and supplies are currently being gathered through Fe y Justicia, East African Dream, Fahan, and the St. Cloud DFL Office, where volunteers and partner organizations are working together to organize and distribute resources to families in need.

How You Can Help

This work is only possible because of the generosity and solidarity of community members who believe that everyone deserves access to food, safety, and dignity.

We are asking our friends, neighbors, supporters, and community partners to join us in supporting these efforts.

Make a Financial Contribution

Financial donations provide the greatest flexibility to respond quickly to emerging needs. Contributions help fund:

  • Grocery purchases

  • Food delivery efforts

  • Emergency assistance for families experiencing lost income

  • Household essentials and hygiene supplies

  • Transportation and logistics for resource distribution

Every donation, regardless of size, helps us reach more families.

Donate Essential Supplies

We are also seeking donations of commonly needed household items, including:

  • Non-perishable food items

  • Rice, beans, flour, and staple foods

  • Baby supplies and diapers

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Cleaning supplies

  • Toilet paper and paper towels

  • Laundry detergent

  • Household necessities

Donations can be coordinated through Fe y Justicia and collection efforts at the St. Cloud DFL Office.

Volunteer Your Time

Community members can also support these efforts through volunteer opportunities related to food delivery, supply collection, resource distribution, and outreach.

A Community Response Rooted in Solidarity

The Greater Minnesota Worker Center, Fe y Justicia, and the East African Dream Organization know that our communities are strongest when we take care of one another.

During moments of uncertainty, fear can isolate families and make it difficult for people to access the support they need. Our goal is to ensure that no family feels alone and that everyone has access to the resources necessary to remain safe and healthy.

We are inspired every day by the resilience, courage, and generosity of the people who make Greater St. Cloud such a vibrant and welcoming community. Together, we can respond to this moment with compassion and action.

Thank you for standing with immigrant families and helping ensure that our neighbors have access to food, essential supplies, and community support when they need it most.

In solidarity,

Greater Minnesota Worker Center
