Building Power Together: GMWC Celebrates the UNIDOSMN General Assembly
In December 2025, team members from the Greater Minnesota Worker Center (GMWC) had the opportunity to attend the UNIDOSMN General Assembly, joining community leaders, organizers, advocates, and families from across Minnesota who are committed to building a more just and equitable future.
We extend our sincere congratulations and gratitude to UNIDOSMN for hosting such a powerful and inspiring event. The General Assembly brought together people from diverse communities to reflect on collective accomplishments, strengthen relationships, and chart a path forward for the work ahead. The energy, leadership, and vision on display throughout the gathering demonstrated the strength of Minnesota’s immigrant and working-class communities.
Supporting Immigrant Communities Across Minnesota
At the Greater Minnesota Worker Center, we know that lasting change happens when organizations work together to build community power. That is why we are proud to stand alongside UNIDOSMN and support their efforts to advance justice, equity, and opportunity for immigrant families throughout Minnesota.
UNIDOSMN has become a leading force in organizing Latino, immigrant, and working-class communities. Through grassroots organizing, civic engagement, leadership development, voter outreach, policy advocacy, and community education, UNIDOSMN helps ensure that immigrant voices are represented in decisions that affect their lives.
Their work strengthens communities by helping residents engage in the democratic process, advocate for policies that support working families, and develop the leadership skills needed to create long-term change. Through year-round organizing efforts, UNIDOSMN continues to empower individuals to become leaders within their neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities.
Shared Values and Shared Struggles
The mission of the Greater Minnesota Worker Center is to organize and build the power of workers to win safe working conditions, livable wages, and systemic change throughout Greater Minnesota. Many of the workers we organize are immigrants whose experiences intersect with the broader issues that UNIDOSMN addresses every day.
Whether advocating for workers’ rights, expanding civic participation, supporting immigrant families, or creating pathways for community leadership, both of our organizations recognize that meaningful progress requires collective action and solidarity.
The relationships built at gatherings like the General Assembly remind us that none of this work happens in isolation. Together, organizations across Minnesota are building stronger communities where all people can thrive regardless of their background, language, or immigration status.
